I had the pleasure of working with Andrew and his team at Charris Construction on a project I am managing. I needed a complete gut renovation of a unit in Brownstone Brooklyn. Andrew showed up for a walkthrough, gave a fair price, and mobilized in a couple of days. They coordinated the parking of a 40-yard container with NYC street parking, which is a challenge in itself. Took instructions well and demonstrated experience working safely around live wires and other systems. The process went smoothly and efficiently, and he delivered on time, which is rare in this field—highly recommended. I will be calling him again.

I am absolutely THRILLED with my newly gut renovated bathroom, by Charris Construction. I can’t stop talking about it and showing it off. Andrew and his team really listened and brought my bathroom inspiration board to life- from the layout to the tile color and pattern, we were able to design and execute a beautiful finished product (if I can say so myself!). My project was quite involved due to the fact that I live in a pre-war Co-Op building with restrictive renovation and construction guidelines. Andrew was extremely patient and worked closely with the co-op board and the building management to get our plans approved in accordance with the building’s requirements. Throughout the project, the Charris team worked closely with my building’s super. They were receptive to the super’s feedback and complied with all of the co-op’s requirements re: working hours, daily cleanup, and waste removal. We went from the original 1939 bathroom with a cast-iron tub, flushomatic toilet, white subway tiles, and a separate standing body shower to a COMPLETELY transformed new room. Now I have a huge walk-in rainfall shower (with my built-in plant shelves), ample recessed lighting, a water efficient toilet, and a gorgeous laundry nook with all of the flood-proofing and soundproofing required for board approval. A lot of time was spent on the fine details, like the perfectly laid blue herringbone tiles around the whole room, and my favorite gold trim detailing that brings the whole design together. The plumbing and electrical were completely re-done and the electric was panel upgraded for safety—now, 2 months in, the washer/dryer setup is working perfectly with zero issues. BTW, this in-unit laundry situation has been life-changing - after 23 years of NYC apartment dwelling and shared machines, this upgrade made the whole project worthwhile. I will be happy to endorse and work with this small family business again in the future.

Andrew and his team did a wonderful job renovating my kitchen and living room over the summer! A bit of backstory: my partner and I purchased a co-op apartment and became homeowners for the first time (yay!). We wanted to make some changes and needed to hire a contractor, but we had no experience with this before. After meeting with several contractors and being disappointed in one way or another, I was losing hope that I'd find someone suitable for the job and who also fit our budget. Then, a friend recommended Charris Construction to me. My partner and I met with Andrew and discussed timeline and pricing; we finally found someone who fit the bill! But of course, what matters most is can they get the job done well? Fast forward and the team definitely delivered. Andrew helped us get the necessary documents/permits to get started, and the project was completed within the estimated timeframe. There were a few minor details that needed some attention afterwards, but Andrew was easy to reach and communicative, and his crew came back to fix them and always offered additional help should we need it.
